Life with A Millie

This girl is fun.

Everything she does is just smart and hilarious. She's still quite reserved around new people, but at home she's a real Millie monster.
Here are some of her fun little sayings and quirks (some are from a few months ago).
"I piece of drink"- when she wants something to drink
Inappropriate conversations:
  • Dan to Carlie: ...you're an effing liar...(being silly about something) Amelia: mommy? You're an effing liar???? (With her eyebrows raised)
  • Talking about going to an indoor track meet and cheering on one of my athletes, Loghan who we've also seen play volleyball:
C: are you going to cheer at the track meet for Loghan?
A: Yeah! Lo Gogan!..... Loghan has balls!!
(Dan and I burst into tears of laughter...we realized she was thinking of a VB game we went to this fall)
A: .....Loghan has BIG BALLS!!!
Holidays:
  • Halloween:

C: do you remember what tonight is?
A:Christmas?
C: noo....
A: (obviously thinking real hard)....get a piece of candy!!! (With an air fist pump)

  • Christmas:

"Santa is coming! He's coming out of the iPhone!!!!"
Amelia told me that Grandpa is bringing all of her Christmas presents, not Santa.

Valentines:
A: I want more colors (talking about some new play dough)
C: we don't have anymore colors.
A: please Santa, I want some more colooorrrrrssss puh-leeeeeeze!!!
She loves being a big sister. Here she decided to help Henry get some puffs. Some meaning, the whole container.
Other Amelia + Henry funnies:
  • Before Henry started eating solids she would always say, "only milk Henry!!!" If he even looked at her while eating. For example, one time we were eating s'mores ice cream sandwiches, I'm holding Henry and then she says "only milk Henry!"
  • Climbing the ladder at the park: "watch Henry!"
  • Playing with toys at home: "Henry watcha doin??...just playin'?!"
  • Henry is crying after his nap: "I check on Henry!" (Runs upstairs)
  • Very early one morning: Amelia: (pats Henry's hand, looks at me) "he's a sweetie boy"
  • A: Ah- Henry's crying! C: I know but maybe he will go back to sleep?! A: no (very matter of fact). He's done. He is done sleeping.

On being bossy:
  • "Mom drive SLOOOWLY. "
  • "Mom, drive fast, k???"
  • Amelia before bed EVERY night: "wrap me like a present!" (Dan wraps her up in her blankey boo and carries her to bed)
  • Me: keep eating all of your dinner. Amelia: stop being bossy!
  • I walk through the door from work: A: where you been? Where you come from?

On being random and/or indifferent:
  • C: do you want to go to a party tomorrow? A: I want mushroom and pretzels and cheese for my birthday party!
  • (While giving Amelia a talk about going to bed soon) D: don't sass mom A: I wake up and go potty yesterday! (Totally unrelated) C: ok...
  • C: Did you get to jump on the trampoline? A: yeah....it's lame, whatever!!!
  • A: can't I have some water? C: only a little bit before bed time A: ugh....that's lame.
  • A: Dad is awake? C: Yes A: I poop. C: Ok.... A:I poop on you.
  • "I have my brush, my hair dryer, my scissors and my nakeubb (make up)"
  • "I'm calm!!!....I'm over the edge....(in sing song voice)"
  • "...myself with honor and dignity...." Singing a song.
  • After discussing how mommy accidentally scraped Amelia's chin and she got a band aide, "yeah, but band aides don't make it feel better mom"
  • Dan and I talking about his mouth being numb from medicine: Amelia: what's that mean??!? I don't have numb. I only have peanut butter and jelly.
  • Me: "Hey Amelia, I'm going to stay home with you tomorrow!! (I'm sick)" Amelia: " I don't even care about it..."

Henry's 1st Birthday!

Happy Birthday to the sweetest little Henry!

We love this guy so much! It's been such a blast this past year getting to know him and having him complete our family.

He's been a bit sick these past few weeks so he was a little cranky on his birthday. But he of course enjoyed celebrating (and eating chocolate cupcakes!) with family in Eagle Point.

Because almost all of our family is in Southern Oregon we decided to drive down to Eagle Point celebrate rather than make them all come to us. We threw a lumberjack themed party and brought out the flannel! Dan and Marianne helped a lot and it was the easiest party I've thrown in awhile.

Henry is a typical 1 yr old that likes to cry when other people hold him. Mostly only if I'm in the room.

The cousins had a little impromptu dance party. The girls danced in heels and necklaces gifted by Grumpy Thom and Lori. They loved them!

So here's what Henry's been up to the past few months:

Eat: He eats pretty much anything these days. Although he's been congested so he doesn't est as much as he used to. We thought maybe he had a milk allergy, but now were hoping it was just a sinus/ear infection. So he's currently drinking coconut milk, but we are going to try and switch back to whole cow milk after he finishes some antibiotics. It's taken him awhile to start using sippy cups, but he'll use one if it has a straw. He's real hesitant to hold onto cups with his hands. Strange kid.

Sleep: I cannot exclaim enough how wonderful it is now that he sleeps!! What a rough summer it was!! He still occasionally wakes up for reasons we never really can figure out, but it's so much better than it was! He easily goes to bed around 6:45-7p and sleeps until 7:15-7:30a. Most days he takes 1 long nap in the morning and it's hit or miss whether he'll nap in the afternoon.

Play: This kid is determined! He is totally into everything. Amelia was very content just playing where she was and did not get into as much trouble as Henry does. But it's fun to see all the stuff he is into. He loves the broom and really anything that is long, and rod shaped. He started cruising so early we all thought he would walk by 8 or 9 months. But he officially started taking steps during his 10th month and was walking fairly well by the time he turned 11 months. He now walks everywhere and hardly ever crawls. He's definitely a physical kid!!

Amelia and Henry also get along really well. Amelia is a little rough with him, but mostly she doesn't realize how little he still is. But she gives him plenty of kisses and SORRY'S!!!

Talk: He's been saying a couple of baby words for the past few months. He says MAMA, DADA, AHDAA (for all done at dinner), NONONO, and NANA (banana). He is always walking around the house saying, DAAADAAADUUH. :) He also recently has been trying out other words, like DUCK! And he consistently says some phrase for downstairs when he wants to go downstairs (apparently he really likes D sounds!!). He waves good night, claps and sometimes tries to blow kisses.

Stats: 88% height, 7% weight = skinny and tall

He sure loves his Dad too! He is always smiling at him and reaching for Dan to hold him.

We are looking forward to his personality coming out more, hearing him talk more and hopefully lots of fun adventures this spring and summer!
