Summer bliss

Babies are blissful.
I could have 10 of these little things.

We are having the best summer of our lives.

We are learning to smile.

We hang out at the park with family.

We spend endless hours at Hayward Field watching the Track & Field Olympic Trials.

We chill in the backyard and stare at the growing garden.

Sometimes we stay in bed until 2pm.

and then we nap. ALL. DAY. LONG.

Best of days

TODAY I've been married to my best friend for 6 years
We've shared so many fun. exciting. adventurous. and even straight boring times together.
By far these moments were the best of the whole six. (well...nearly 10, if you count dating, which I do!)

I know without a doubt that I will spend the rest of my life and all eternity with this guy.
It's the best knowing that we'll always be together.

My Dad came to visit Amelia this weekend.
What a cool grandpa Amelia has! (Her other grandpa is pretty rockin' too!)

So we played hookey at church and went to the park to throw boomerangs. Because what else do cool people do when they skip out on church??

Of course we ended up getting the boomerang stuck in the tree! Can you see it?

I love how my dad immediately took off his shoe and started throwing it WAY up into the tree.

 We eventually got it down....

Anyways, what a beautiful day celebrating family!

Even Lily enjoyed the walk to the park (she got her ball thrown plenty too!)

1 month

Can you believe this beauty is 1 month old already?

I'm freaking out.

How has a whole month gone by already?

I'm quickly realizing that I need to enjoy every second of this sweet girl, because she'll never be so tiny and new again!

We've been having such wonderful lazy days over here. Amelia is awake slightly more and we've got a somewhat consistent schedule going... consistent as in she dictates what we do each day. :) most of the time it's eating or napping or playing the what-are-you-fussying-about-game. Fun stuff. We love it. Way better than teaching teenagers about the periodic table :)

Although I could use some more sleep.

Garden...what?

Trying my hardest to not neglect my garden. Last year the garden was my baby...

Things are going well. Don't have as much planted as I should. Mostly out of indecision and lack of time.

Today I harvested some garlic scapes which are supposed to be delicious. The actual garlic bulbs will probably be ready in another 4 weeks?? I also harvested a lot more lettuce and some Chinese cabbage, which I'm anxious to taste.

I cant wait until the tomatoes, zucchini and squash really take off!

Little lessons

Being a first time mom this past month (yeah, can you believe an entire month has gone by?!??) has taught me a lot of ridiculous things.

For example:

- I can now drive and shift gears with only my left hand...ya know because the baby is screaming, she's spit out her pacifier onto who knows what (after I've blindly tried to stick it in her ear!) so my only option is to have her suck on my finger - did I mention that I was driving???

- pacifiers. Have a lot of them. Just stick them everywhere.

- you can never have enough nursing pads. A box of 60 sounds like a lot - but if you're a milk making machine like me...it'll last a week. Maybe.

- baby poops can be really loud. Especially during that really quiet spiritual moment at church.

- I am totally willing to breastfeed anywhere. What's the big deal people??

- don't forget to take your dulcolax. Enough said.

- don't even bother with a cute handmade sewn cover for the changing table pad. That thing has been peed and pooped on more times than I can count.

- my baby loves the warm hair dryer blown on her. Like really really enjoys it.

- it's okay to sleep in until 12pm. Or 3 pm.

- burp cloths really are necessary. The second you think you'll be okay without one, you'll soon realize you're an idiot for thinking such a thing.

- baby coos, grunts, and sighs are absolutely adorable...from the hours of 10am-9pm only.

To be continued....
