Happy in Wilsonville!

We are mostly settled into Wilsonville now - much thanks to our fantastic friends! Without all their help we would have had a much more difficult time getting settled!

Our good friend Ben came to help us load all of our stuff into the U-haul. Our house was a disaster when he arrived, but he really helped Dan out a lot with getting all the big heavy stuff into the truck. We're pretty sure he had a lot going on at work, so we are incredibly grateful that he was able to help load everything. Otherwise...I would have been stuck helping Dan lift all the heavy stuff and that just doesn't work out well!

Miranda (a friend from high school) came to help from 12 until 10:30pm!!! She is amazing and helped me carry all the random, light weight "girly" things not only into the moving truck, but we loaded her car up and she helped us unload everything in Wilsonville (read: a million trips up and down the stairs!). Plus she absolutely volunteered to do all this, we didn't even have to ask!!

Kris (aka powerhouse mover) helped us unload the entire truck in Wilsonville and helped get everything upstairs in under 1.5hrs. Amazing! It was a lot of working going up and down the stairs, so it was great having friends help us (less trips for Dan and I!) He also kept Dan entertained with good stories throughout. Thanks so much for your help Kris!

Half of our house is still packed up, but we already feel at home, which is great! We've still been back in forth to Salem more times than we'd like in the past few days, but we are excited to get more settled here and getting ready for Europe! We'll miss our great friends in Salem, but seriously we will make plans to see each other frequently. We plan to have a dinner/BBQ at our new place once we get back, so everyone is invited!
PS - I like this post because it's so "glamour shots" :)

Picnic Photography

Here are some cute photos from a picnic in the park with friends. I completely forgot about them! Emily - I am so sad that the one of you guys turned out a bit blurry, I love your expressions though! I am still trying to figure out my manual lens...I don't seem to like it much, or maybe I just haven't figured it out quite right. It's always blurry in all the wrong places and very contrasty. But anyways, I owe you guys a mini photo shoot with the better lens, so anytime cuz SCHOOLS OUT FOR SUMMER!!!! I'm free!
Here is little Cal
I love this - Grumpy ol' Baby Max (i like the bw and the color!)

Summer plans

Well things are finally wrapping up!

Today my students took their finals and I am basically done teaching at South Salem HS! I have to show up Monday and part of Tuesday for teacher stuff, but it is crazy that I made it to the end of the year. I'm ready to move on, but I'll miss South A LOT!

Dan and I have a busy few weeks ahead of us!

  • On Sunday we get the keys to our new apartment in Wilsonville! We are really fortunate everything worked out and we have a nice place to live for the next year or so.
  • We have to pack our entire house by the 30th (ugh!!!) I am not looking forward to this at all. We've moved way to frequently lately....
  • We are headed to Eagle Point on the weekend of the 20th!
  • We need to spend as much time as we can with our Salem friends - we're sad to have to leave, but Wilsonville is only 25 mins away or so!?
  • We have to plan our Europe trip....we leave July 2nd and have so much stuff to get ready!!
  • I've got to keep working on my units and lessons for my classes next year.

We're so glad it's finally summer - but somehow we are still busy? Guess that's life!

Europe - otra vez!

Yep, we have been so blessed recently - we get to go to Europe again in July (finally!)

Honestly, we feel a little spoiled, but we've worked so hard to save our money and have patiently waited to go on vacation. So finally the right time came and we decided on going to Europe again. We also have to thank Dan's parents for helping us out with their frequent flyer miles (a christmas gift and more!)- THANK YOU! Also Mt. Angel SD for hiring me so quickly - haha!

We've decided to fly into London and go directly to Paris for 5 days (Dan will be in art heaven again at the Louvre). Then we will spend about a week in Budapest, Hungary and Prague, Czech Republic. The last week we'll trek around Greece (so excited!) and then spend a day in London (we were there on new years before and didn't get to go into many museums and such because everything was closed) and then head back home. We'll be traveling for about 22 days!

It's so exciting! We really wanted to go to Croatia too, but it just turned out to be too difficult to get there and back. So guess we'll have to go another time! :)

If anyone has been to any of these places and has ideas on where to go that would be great. Specifically about Greece and the top sites to see in London with only one day (tough!)

PS - we also added clocks to our blog to keep track of the time in the places we will be in just over a month. fun! :P

I GOT A JOB!!

Okay, most of you know this already but amazingly enough.....

I HAVE A JOB FOR NEXT YEAR!!!!

I really should have blogged about this sooner because I got the call around April 28th or so...but really it was too good to be true, I just had to wait a little while to let it settle! :)

I will be working in Mt. Angel (a tiny little town North East of Salem...look it up!) at John F. Kennedy High School. As far as I know, I will be the main science teacher in the building! I am going to teach Biology, Oceanography, Anatomy/Physiology and even Chemistry (crazy!).

It is so hard to even find a job opening right now, so I am so blessed to have a full-time job for next year. I was the first one to get hired in my MAT class and currently I only know 2 other teachers who are hired (1 is a science teacher, the other is math and science). So science is definitely the way to go right now!

I am so excited and I can't wait to have a classroom that is my own. I'm kind of nervous too....

I <3 Oregon

I really like these sites. They have a lot of great ideas for traveling around Oregon - especially because this year is Oregon's 150th birthday. Check it out! In fact.....if you live far away from us and need to come visit, it is required of you. Please please come visit us!!!!
