Christmas is Magical Again!

Christmas in your 20s sucks doesn't it?

Well, it's on again. Having kids turns on all the magic.

We had a fantastic time visiting family and then returning home to spend Christmas Eve and the rest of winter break at home. This was a good choice since Amelia is getting old enough to really have fun with the idea of Christmas. We tried to really play up all the good stuff...cookie making, decorating the tree, gingerbread houses, picking out presents, making ornaments, leaving cookies and carrots for Santa and his reindeer etc.

We also switched the kids into the same room, so we decorated a little and made it festive!

Santa and his Reindeer came!

We read The Night Before Christmas, per tradition.

And made tacos for dinner!

Since we put both kids in the bedroom, we had room in the loft for Dan to make me a big sewing table.
And here are all the happy kids with their presents pictures:

Henry:: 8 months

Isn't he precious?

I miss these guys so much every day. They have so much fun playing with Daddy and with each other. Dan takes them on walks to the park or to see the ducks and they do crafts and generally have a good time hanging out together.

Amelia still loves to help with Henry and for a couple weeks was insisting on feeding Henry at all meals. It got pretty messy, but she did a good job.

Thankfully, his sleeping has gotten a lot better. It's like he's a different person at night! Lately he's slept through the night quite a bit. But sometimes, he will wake up 3-4 times...it's exhausting. Dan always helps out in the middle of the night, which I appreciate.

Henry also had his first teeth come in right after he turned 8 months. So that threw him off for a little bit. But he was surprisingly not too grumpy. He has the bottom two working their way up.

We all thought he would for sure be walking by now since he started crawling and cruising so early. Although he's been cruising for nearly 2 months, he gets around so quickly, that I don't think he'll walk for a little while longer. He already is starting to climb up on things though, like the stool, which is slightly terrifying. He is into EVERYTHING. He loves the bathroom, the closet, the stairs, the pile of dirt while sweeping...all places and things he shouldn't be getting into!

But he's such a happy kid! Amelia was happy too, but much more serious. Henry needs to know what everyone is doing and he wants to do it too. He doesn't want to be left out! This drives Amelia a little crazy, but she does love having him around and will instantly try to make Henry laugh (by fake laughing herself) if he's feeling at all sad or fussy.

He's doing a good job of eating solid foods.

He's still breastfeeding (or I'm pumping at work) and he is working his way towards 3 solid food meals a day. He loooooooves baby crackers.

We can't seem to buy enough of those things.

He doesn't seem to have much of a preference for other foods. He seems to like it all and we are starting to give him lots of different types of finger foods too, so that's fun.

We'll see where his measurements are at his 9 month appointment, but he seems like he his still tall and skinny. He still fits into most 6 month clothes, 6-9mo and some 9mo stuff.

Hes gotten good at waving "night night"

He loves saying DADADADADA and MAMAMA and BABABAA too.

The boy loves the skateboard!
