Mad. Serious. Happy

Sometimes we are a little expressive over here at the Harris household.

In a mere 5 seconds we can go from
 happy little smiles...

...to "this is serious business mom...pay attention"

...to such the angry face...

What's the dealy-O, Ameli-O?

She's sure given her mama a run for her money these past few days!

She's a whole new person.

A tiny crying...no, make that screaming...person.

She's just not happy.

Hope it (whatever it is) goes away really.really soon.

Until then, she'll just have to get smothered in kisses until she stops screaming.

Fishing

I'm pretty sure the highlight of the camping trip was fishing with the kids.

Leila basically stole the show with the biggest and most fish caught.

I don't think I got a photo of Eddie fishing...did he even catch anything? :)

Too bad Amelia was busy drooling all over her peachy striped socks to show off her fishing skillz...

Because Jude seemed to have a great time!

1st Hike - Triple Falls

(this was the only sunny portion...don't worry she had a little hat!)
A couple weekends ago we went hiking with our friends Marla and Mike. We hiked Triple Falls just outside of Multnomah Falls. It was a HOT day in Portland, so it was great to get out into the cool forest and let Amelia experience the outdoors. She loved it!

What a little ham!

She did so great in the Boba! In the above pic, she is a little low hanging, but she was super comfy. In fact, she is so low hanging here because I was able to nurse her WHILE hiking. Insane. Check that off the mommy bucket list!

We hated enjoyed putting our feet in the icy cold stream at the top before we hiked back down.

Overall, she made it about 3-4 hrs and we hiked around 4.5miles?

Wowza.

Miss Mia - 3 months

It's hard to choose just one photo to capture our sweet Amelia girl at 3 months.

She already has such a little personality.

It's hilarious.

We are getting spoiled with smiles.

She's got this clever coy shoulder shrug smile going on too that just melts her dads heart.

She is doing all kinds of fun things too besides smiling.

She LOVES to stand up on her legs and throw her head around like she's in an 80's rock band.

She can sit up decently with support.

She always sticks out her tongue.

She can roll over from tummy to back, but doesn't really like to.

She drools. A lot.

Hands are always in her mouth.

She hates it when mom picks her up and she thinks she's getting nursed, but really she's getting a diaper change first...

and she's got a nice high pitched yell when she wants our attention.

And very importantly...

she

is

sleeping

through

the night.

Most night she goes to bed around 7:30-8:30pm and she will sleep until 5:30-7am. For awhile she was getting up at 3-4am to eat but for now...

it is glorious, glorious sleep for me!

Harvest Monday 8.13

Each Monday, Daphne’s Dandelions hosts “Harvest Monday” where everyone can share links to their harvest for the week. It’s fun to see what everyone is harvesting from his or her gardens in different areas.

Finally, we are starting to get some good sized harvests of tomatoes and green beans. But I'm a little worried about the garden. We've only had one zucchini...that's crazy! I just looked back and I had already had 10+ zukes at this time last year. And I don't think we are on track for as many tomatoes either.
Beware of the most saddest potato patch you've ever seen below. You might want to divert your eyes when the corn picture shows up too. Pathetic.
Oh well! I was quite busy this spring/early summer! :)

Love cherry tomatoes!

Baby and Pig kidneys

I have the best husband.

We've been here in Spokane, WA for nearly 2 weeks now.

During the days I go to class for my Human Body System PLTW training and Dan watches Amelia.

How many husbands would actually watch a 2.5 month babe in a hotel for 2 weeks???

He wins the super dad award for sure!

It's been hard to be away from Amelia during the day (and pumping milk is no fun at all...), but it's given me confidence that everything will be okay in the fall when I have to go back to work.

In some ways it has made me really think about staying at home permanently, because I miss Mia so much and just love the job of being mom. But on the other hand I'm glad that it has also made me realize that I honestly do need some sort of academic or intellectual stimulation in my daily life. I've always thought this about myself, but this training helped me realize that I simply love my job.

I'm constantly surprised by how much extra work I take on (without pay!!) just because I honestly love the work. It's a good feeling. And it would be an even better feeling if I made the big bucks...(come on America, we can do better!)

Despite all these realizations, I can't wait to go home tomorrow and enjoy the rest of the summer with my little fam-bam. August and September in Oregon means lots of sunshine, garden veggies and back to school (for Dan!)

Enjoy the photos below.

PS- is it weird that that I have a favorite organ?!? I mean what's cooler than turning blood into urine?)

PPS- is it even allowed to combine photos of a cute babe and a pig kidney in the same post?
