Rant

Okay, so I would just like to take a moment to scream about a ridiculous application I filled out. There is this PERFECT job opportunity teaching English in Spain for 8 months. Dan and I have talked about it and decided it's worth applying for...even though I JUST applied to grad school for teaching in Oregon :D So I go to fill out the application and of course it's all in spanish and includes every single spanish word that I DON'T know. So I've been struggling through this ridiculous website/application process they have since Thursday. Tonight I finally turned the stupid thing in, but I'm almost positive my application won't even get looked at because they changed the qualification requirements like 50 times. It was totally inconsistent about the requirements. The one that gets me is that by the end of the application (which you can't save and go back to and it won't let you skip ahead without filling it out first just to see what is actually required so you can prepare yourself) it says that I need a doctors note saying I'm healthy. I live in America....it will take weeks to get a doctors note!! They sprung an essay on me too and said that I needed a letter of recommendation, but it also stated it was optional - but then wouldn't let me go any further without clicking that I had a letter of recommendation. NONE of these things were mentioned on their 5 different versions of their websites stating the requirements. So now...I potentially won't even be considered for a perfect job that I am perfectly qualified for!! AHHHH!!!!!
At this point I just don't care anymore. I guess if we're meant to go to Spain....we'll go.

Poll!

Hello - You should participate in our poll as to when we are moving back to Oregon! By now...we have absolutely NO IDEA! We like Florida so much better now, but we're anxious to get back to Oregon too.

So take a guess....it's to the left.

Thanks!

PS - I'll be putting up some pictures of Miranda's visit soon. I miss her too much already!

A couch!

So we finally bought a couch. We have been shopping for months trying to find something afforadable and comfortable. Above is a panorama of our new living room arrangement. We've gotten so much furniture while in Florida! Our new couch is HUGE! It's the most comfortable couch I've ever sat on. The fabric is chenille it's extra deep and long. If we sit all the way back on it our feet dangle off the edge - it's so great! We saw so many unique, beautiful couches while shopping, but we were looking for something that was modern and most of all comfortable! Both of us could brag forever about the couch - mostly, because we were so sick of our tiny uncomfortable love seat. We can't wait to someday have a big house of our own so we could really decorate as we please. We're still struggling to make the things we can afford match.

Of other news, Dan is gone on official Coast Guard business...in the Bahamas. Poor him! :) So I've had the week to myself. It actually hasn't been as boring/lonely as I thought it would be. I get the new couch to myself (even though it really could fit 4 ppl on it!) and have been busy finishing up grad school stuff/studying, visiting with friends and planning for my bestest friend Miranda to visit! She's arriving nice and early (5:45am) on Easter morning. What a good Easter gift huh? I'm sooooo excited for her visit that I nearly forget Dan is gone for the week :) I'm taking vacation time from work and we're going to relax on the beach all week!
If I don't post again this weekend - HAPPY EASTER!!

Tagged by Jamie (miss you!)

A. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning.
B. Each player answers the questions about themselves.
C. At the end of the post, the player then tags 3 people and posts their names then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.

1. What was I doing 10 years ago:
I was 12 years old, in Jr. High. I was probably getting really into Track right about now. Most likely visiting family in California for Spring Break. Right about now I probably stopped hanging out with my old BF Justine (who knows why we stopped being friends??) and started hanging out with a group of friends that today are still some of my closest friends.
2. 5 Things on my to-do list:
1-FINISH GRAD SCHOOL APPLICATION!
2 - Read Chronicles of Narnia
3 - Study for PRAXIS
4 - Plan meals/go grocery shopping
5 - Run at least 3x this week

3. What snacks do I enjoy:
Anything with sugar! Sour candy

4. What would I do if I were suddenly a billionaire?
Travel the world for a few years before Dan and I get jobs. Splurge a bit. Then buy houses for all our family, donate to Africa and other developing countries, put the rest in savings and retire early!

5. 3 bad habits:
Not putting the dish scrubber on the side of the sink like Dan asks me to every single day.
Not folding laundry after washing it
Being indecisive

6.5 places I have lived:
Santa Monica/Los Angeles, California
Eagle Point/Sams Valley, Oregon
Salem, Oregon
Seville, Spain
Clearwater, Florida

7. 5 jobs I've had:
Work Study for Athletic Dpt.
Taco Bell @ Raineys
Swim Instructor
Caffe' Gelato
Target

8. 5 thing people don't know about me:
I really can't motivate myself to go on runs anymore. Sad!
I want to teach my kids to speak spanish
I could easily sleep in until noon any day of the week
I love Bacon (but i'm pretty sure everyone does!)
I love the show The Bachelor - sshhh!

Now I tag:
ummmm....Jackie, because I think she's the only one I know of who hasn't done this??

The Linam's, Rain, Hair

Hanging out with the Linam's
This is Dan trying to be cool. This is Dan trying to play Rock Band. Both of us struggled just a bit. But it is pretty fun.
Coastie friends. Katie, Caleb and Us at the Oriental Buffet on Wednesday night.
Rainy Days
Two weeks ago, Dan and I went to downtown St. Pete on a Saturday morning. We wanted to check out the weekly art fair. The art fair turned out to be not so exciting, but we accidentally stumbled across the Farmer's Market. I of course was super excited, fresh veggies!! Well, within minutes it started pouring down rain. We had huge thunderstorms that day! Even Cheyenne text messaged me because she heard of the huge storms we were having. We ended up soaking wet, but got a bargain on fresh pineapple!! We tried to drive home, but it was raining so hard we had to pull over and take a little nap. Well, Dan took a nap of course....I fidgeted around for 15min and then made Dan wake up and drive us home. We have been having some crazy storms the past few weeks. There also have been tornado watches, which terrifies me to death! But in any case, we plan on going back to the Farmers market next week...we slept in this Saturday! Hair, hair, stupid hair!
Okay, so I am including this in the post, not because I am vain and need to show you all my hair, but because I had a terrible hair experience today. I've been growing my hair long for about 2 years now and finally am happy with how long it is. In general, I'm not too picky about my hair. I don't get it cut very much, only trimmed, I don't ever really go to get it dyed or highlighted. I'm fairly lucky too because whenever I do get it cut, if the stylist dpesn't cut straight, you can't really tell because curly hair blends all in together. Well, today I went in to get it trimmed, make my long layer a bit shorter and more noticeable and get sideswept bangs. I was pretty nervous about the bangs. The terrible stylist that I got, did not understand at all what I wanted. She kept trying to cut my appointment short and tell me she was done. She was really rude, barely cut my hair in 5 minutes and by the end of it all I stormed out and went crying to Dan. So Dan, myself and Katie had to help me fix my hair.
This is my hair last week when it was straighted. It is sooo long now!

This is after I colored it and had to re-cut it after the evil, terrible stylist did nothing.

I really like my hair now, but I was really traumatized by the bad job she did. I have never had a bad hair experience before. Now, I'll be cutting my own hair or having Dan help me....he did a really great job layering my hair - go figure huh? He's great!

Quick updates

  • We found a couch we like, but are still deciding if we can afford it. Decisions, decisions...we are not good at this!
  • Dan has been without his medicine the past week and has (and is currently) taken many-a-naps on the floor.
  • We love our new furniture arrangement!
  • Dan has been sewing and helping out his other coasties with their uniforms...so nice!
  • We've been hanging out with the Linams since they moved over here to Clearwater. We've shared a lot of dinners together including, lots of delicious crab, enchiladas, spaghetti and tonight Roast and Pineapple UpsideDown cake. YUM!! It's so great having friends here!
  • Carlie has been wasting her life away playing The Sims.
  • But Carlie has also started her grad school application to the Willamette MAT program (teaching!) Ahhhhhh - after a ridiculous year of struggling to find out what she wants to do, she's finally settled on being a teacher. If all goes right....

That's all for now!
